Reflexology is a form of treatment that treats the whole person through working reflex points on the feet, (similarly reflexology can also be applied to hands or ears).

Reflexology is based on the principle that there are reflex areas throughout the feet that correspond to all organs, systems and glands of the body, making the feet a mirror image of the body.

By working the feet it is possible to find out which areas of the body are out of balance and treatment can be given to rebalance the body by stimulating its own healing mechanism. The hands and ears can also be used in reflexology and again similar reflex areas exist corresponding to the whole body.

Balance and harmony can also be restored to all the body systems, calming or stimulating according to the client's needs. Balancing and healing during reflexology encompasses the mind, body and spirit.

Reiki is a safe, natural, non-invasive hands-on therapy that helps balance your body’s systems and restores depleted energies, promoting increased vitality, health & well-being.

The symbol pictured is the kanji for Rei-Ki, a Japanese word, which translates as “Universal Life Energy”.

What is Universal Life Energy?
There is a state of being which contains all creation & out of which life arose. The energy of this state of being lives in all things – humans, animals, plants & all of nature around us. It is this energy which flows through our hands in concentrated form when we treat someone with Reiki.

How does Reiki work?
Imagine your body as a transistor radio and the Reiki energy as sound waves. The therapist acts as the radio’s aerial, to channel sound energy (Reiki) into the radio (body).
Depending on your current physical, emotional & mental states, the body will vibrate at a particular frequency, like a radio station. For example, if there are areas of discomfort, tension or pain in your body, the energy will be focused on those areas in order to relieve the stress.

This frequency will determine where & how the Reiki is distributed and with what effects – just the same as the frequency of a radio station determines what music is playing on the radio. The energy simply goes to wherever the body directs it.

How can it help me?
• Safely promotes the body’s natural ability to heal itself
• Reduces stress, induces deep relaxation & mental wellbeing
• Balances the body’s energy levels by reducing blockages & boosting depleted energies.
• Reiki is completely safe & adjusts naturally to the needs of the receiver’s body.
• Reiki is pleasant and holistic, vitalizing body and soul.

How do I prepare for a session?
• Wear clothing that will allow you to lie or sit comfortably for an hour.
• Wear footwear that is not too tight & easy to remove.
• Turn off any cellphones, pagers or other equipment likely to disturb you during the session.
• Come with an open, willing mind & be ready to relax!

How does the session happen?
Reiki treatment can be done with the client lying on a massage table or seated in a chair. Whichever method is used will depend on your comfort & mobility. You remain fully clothed, except for the removal of your shoes.

What does it feel like to receive Reiki?
Most people experience Reiki as a gentle warmth or tingling coming from the practitioner’s hands.

How will I feel after the session?
Many people experience a feeling of great relaxation & ease, and increased sensation in their feet. Many clients advise that they feel like they are “floating on air” afterwards. You may experience tiredness, thirst & maybe even a headache some time after the session: this is very normal and is simply the body’s way of getting rid of the toxins which have been released during the treatment.
Ensure that you have a quiet night to relax & drink water regularly after treatment sessions.

It is recommended you have 3 successive treatments (maximum 1 week apart). If 3 successive treatments are received, the detoxification process will not be lengthy and your recovery time will be much faster.
