A Review of 2019

2019 was another busy year for City Osteopaths, with Jennifer, Simon and I conducting around 2000 appointments. Often clinic was so busy that we couldn’t always see patients at the most convenient time for them. To address this, we have restructured our diary for 2020 to offer 20% more appointments per week than in 2019. We will also be opening from 8.30am to give people the opportunity to come before work as well as continuing to offer appointments up until 7pm in the evening.

We have also been busy outside of the clinic again this year. City Osteopaths has long been the ‘go to’ clinic for many organisations in the area, but this year, Simon was able to provide treatment for the cast of various shows at Wolverhampton Theatre, including on-site for ‘Madagascar’ (pictured). Jennifer has continued to volunteer at New Cross Hospital on the maternity ward providing breast feeding support to new families. This role involves considerable ongoing training, which also benefits the many families who bring their unhappy babies to see her in the clinic at City Osteopaths. This year Jennifer also completed her training in one-to-one and group clinical Pilates, and will go on to complete her advanced training in 2020. Jennifer integrates these new skills into her osteopathic treatment approach, but is also offering specific Pilates only appointments as well.

Meanwhile, I have been continuing with my PhD in exercise measurement for musculoskeletal pain at Keele University. In November, I presented my latest findings at the Physiotherapy UK conference in Birmingham (pictured). Currently, I am leading a study across eleven NHS hospitals throughout the midlands, which will hopefully provide me with the data to finish my studies. In addition, I am also still regularly at Europe’s largest school of osteopathy, the UCO in London, where I manage elements of their master’s degree in osteopathy.

Our ongoing commitment to improving our clinical skills and experience enables us to give our patients the best care possible. We have lots more planned for 2020, but in the meantime, please get in touch if you need our help.
