Paediatric and Obstetric Osteopathy

What is obstetric and paediatric osteopathy?

At City Osteopaths, Jennifer is here to provide care and support at every stage of your parenting experience.  This includes obstetric care for mum during and after pregnancy, and paediatric care for babies and toddlers.

During Pregnancy (Ante-Natal)

During pregnancy, your body makes lots of changes to accommodate your growing baby and prepare for giving birth. Common problems include back pain, sacro-iliac joint dysfunction, symphysis pubis dysfunction or pelvic girdle pain. During this time treatment can help your body adapt and reduce the associated symptoms. This may include soft-tissue and joint mobilisation and tailored exercises such as Pilates.

After Pregnancy (Post-Natal)

Many women experience ongoing aches and pains after giving birth and often benefit from talking about their birthing experience, so appointments will often include a 'birthing debrief'.  Physical therapy will help to reduce any pain you are experiencing, while a personalised exercise plan will help you regain optimal strength and stability.

Babies & Children (Paediatrics)

It is common to have lots of questions about the health of your new baby and what is best for them.  Jennifer is able to provide unbiased advice based on scientific research and evidence as well as her experience in 25 years of clinical practice and parenting her own three children.  â€‹

Skully Care measurements - see below

What is Skully Care?

Skully Care is a scientifically validated method for accurately measuring head asymmetry in babies, often referred to as ‘flat head syndrome’ or plagiocephaly.  Changes in a baby’s head shape were once thought to be purely aesthetic. However, research now shows that head asymmetry may have an impact on developmental milestones.

Accurate measurements are essential to determine if treatment is needed and to track progress effectively—and that’s where Skully Care comes in as it provides precise assessments of a baby’s head shape and the ability to monitor progress throughout treatment.

At City Osteopaths, Skully Care assessments and progress monitoring are included at no extra cost during appointments—giving you the most accurate insights alongside expert care for your baby.
