Back Pain
Resolve your pain and reduce injury risk
Osteopathy can help to reduce pain and get your back moving, which helps it to heal and recover faster.
We use a variety of techniques, such as: joint mobilisation and manipulation, soft tissue massage, medical acupuncture, exercise rehabilitation and lots of advice on what you can do and shouldn't do to recover as quickly as possible.
We also offer one-to-one clinical Pilates sessions, which are an excellent way to prevent the recurrence of back pain or manage more long-term problems.
More About Back Pain
Back pain is a very common problem. The pain can be anywhere in the back but most commonly occurs in the lower back with or without a sharp shooting pain in the leg, known as sciatica. Most people will experience back pain at some point in their life, but normally this will resolve on its own within 6-12 weeks. The best advice for back pain with or without sciatica, is to remain as active as possible, to try and stay at work as normal and to use medication such as anti-inflammatories to help manage the pain. It is very rare that back pain is a sign of something more serious and it rarely requires surgery. However, sometimes the pain does not go away on its own, or it is too severe to remain active and work normally, or it is not manageable with medication. If this is the case, you should book an appointment with a member of the team at City Osteopaths.
