Get to the root of your pain
Pain can be acute: less than six weeks old, chronic: more than 3 months old, or sub acute: somewhere in between. Pain can be experienced as many different unpleasant sensations, such as sharp, dull, aching, shooting, burning, or throbbing.
Acute pain is often due to inflammation or damage to a tissue, such as muscle, ligament, tendon or nerve. Chronic pain is usually more complicated than just damaged tissue. It often involves the consequences of an unsuccessful healing process or changes that have occurred in the nervous system as a result of the pain.
